5 questions to ask before you book your Newborn Photographer

Why Should You Book Whilst You Are Pregnant?

Most Photographers including myself are often booked up weeks in advance. I use your due date to secure your Newborn Photoshoot. Once your Baby arrives we then secure an actual date, usually within the first 14 days after your baby is born. Don’t worry if your baby is early or late, I always keep spaces free around your due date so we ensure you have your Photoshoot. You don’t know how you will feel after the birth, you may have had an emergency C section. By already having your Newborn photoshoot booked you have something to focus on. If you leave it until after your baby is born you're more likely to miss the crucial window due to being in your baby bubble.

What Is The Best Age To Photograph My Newborn Baby?

I always suggest within the first 14 days. This is due to your baby still being very sleepy and due to them not being out of the womb for long. They are still really comfortable being in the foetal position, which makes it safe and easy to pose your baby without causing them any discomfort. You can still have a Newborn Photoshoot if your Baby is older than 14 days, we just may not achieve some of the more tucked in poses. All Photoshoots with me are baby led.

Should A Photographer Have Newborn Training?

Yes!! Unfortunately Newborn Photography isn’t a regulated Industry which means anyone can call themselves a Newborn Photographer. You should always ask your Photographer what training they have received and what equipment they are posing your baby on. I have been trained by some of the best Newborn Photography Trainers in the Country and always keep my training up to date by going on courses/workshops twice a year. It's an amazing job, trained Newborn Photographers will have spent £1000’s on training and ongoing workshops to ensure the safety of your Newborn Baby.

It's not just about taking pictures of your baby, it's also knowing about soothing babies and understanding their cues.

The Baby & Newborn Photography Association (BANPAS) are helping to spread the word that parents shouldn’t just hire ‘any’ Newborn Photographer

Do You Provide Props?

I have a huge selection of clothing, wraps, headbands and posing aids for your baby to use during their photoshoot. We will also have a consultation before your Photoshoot to find out your colour scheme at home and what you like/dislike. It's no use me using what ‘I love’ and you hating the colour choice!

What Is The Cost Of A Newborn Photoshoot?

The cost can vary massively from one photographer to another. Some of this can be down to the level of training they have had or the packages they offer. My session fee is £39. This is for your time in the studio which can be up to 3 hours and use of all props. My packages are
